DIRECTIONS FOR USE
CHELATED COPPER is a precisely formulated copper mix for use as
a source of copper ion for the prevention of marine fish diseases
caused by the protozoan parasites Oodinium ocellatum and Cryptocaryon
irritans. It is also used for preventing fresh water fish diseases
caused by Oodinium, Costia, Chilodonella, Icthyophthirius and
Trichodina. Chelated Copper is less toxic than non-chelated copper
and can be used at higher concentrations. It also resists precipitation
and adsorption by aquarium substrates.
TREATMENT PROCEDURES AND DOSAGE:
Bath: Add enough stock solution to produce a concentration of
0.25 to 2.0 ppm in the aquarium water. To avoid the relative inaccuracy
involved in measuring crystalline powders by volume (i.e. teaspoons)
this product must only be measured by weight in the dry form.
Marine Fish: As a treatment for Cryptocaryon irritans and
Oodinium ocellatum add enough stock solution to produce a concentration
of 0.25 to a maximum of 2.0 ppm (mg/L). Treat fish for a minimum
of ten days. Extended exposure to a concentration higher than
0.25 ppm beyond the 10 day period is not recommended as higher
concentrations can can cause pathological damage to the gills
and internal organs.
Fresh Water Fish: Add enough stock solution to produce
a concentration of 0.25 to 2.0 ppm (mg/L). Fish can be treated
for an indefinite period.
Directions for making a stock solution:
Use 0.0217 grams (21.7 mg) per mL of total solution desired (21.7
grams per liter of total solution) or use 0.643 grams per fluid
ounce of total solution desired (82.33 grams per gallon of total
solution). This formula produces a stock solution which is approximately
0.192% (w/v) copper (Cu++). Used at a rate of 1 teaspoon (5 mL)
per 10 gallons it produces a concentration of 0.25 ppm. This container
will make approx. 4.6 liters of stock solution
Note: Use only deionized or distilled water to make up the stock solution.
FOR AQUARIUM and ORNAMENTAL POND USE ONLY
NOT FOR FOOD FISH USE
DANGER:
May be fatal if swallowed. Wash thoroughly after handling. Do
not store near food or feed.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN
POISON
ANTIDOTE: If conscious, induce vomiting by giving a tablespoon
of salt in a glass of warm water and repeat until vomit fluid
is clear. Give milk or whites of eggs beaten with water. Keep
patient warm and quiet.
