KORDON's live aquatic foods are packaged in a very special type of plastic bag with water that is prepared and treated to greatly extend the life of the animals. These small bags of live foods are called Gourmet Sachets. The plastic used to produce the bags actually breathes (for more information, see the product data sheet on Kordon's Breathing Bags, KPD-74 ), and the water is specially prepared and treated with a unique combination of water conditioners and antibiotics. Together, these preparations allow the aquatic animals to stay alive for weeks, without the bag being opened or the water being changed. For maximum longevity the sachets should be kept cool (under 50° F. but above freezing). No feeding of the aquatic animals in the sachets is required.

There are currently 3 species of animals available as live fish food. All are suitable for feeding to fresh & saltwater fishes, however all are freshwater species except the brine shrimp. The freshwater species will only survive for a short period of time in a marine environment . All foods are available in two sizes: 30 mL and 150 mL bags. The animals are continually tested by university biologists to ensure that they contain no pathogens, are toxin-free and are safe for use in all aquariums. Many of these live foods are only available on a seasonal basis, although every effort is made to assure adequate supplies throughout the year. Live delivery is always guaranteed.

DIRECTIONS FOR FEEDING LIVE FOOD SACHETS:
These animals can be fed to either fresh or saltwater aquariums. The freshwater species will survive a short time in saltwater without disintegrating and the brine shrimp will survive until they are caught and consumed.

1. Cut open a Sachet over the sink, and pour the contents out through a fine-mesh aquarium dipnet.
2. Rinse the contents in the net with tap water.
3. Dip the reversed net in the aquarium to release the contents into the aquarium water. There are special feeders available through aquarium dealers that can be used to suspend the Black Worms and Tubifex while feeding them to the fishes. Shallow dishes can also be used to present these live foods to terrarium inhabitants such as frogs and turtles. The treated water within the Sachet is safe, and no harm will come if some of it remains with the animals during feeding.
