Premium Quality Nutrition
Along with water, pets must have the correct foods in order to thrive. OASIS has specialized in exceptional high quality feeds and vitamin supplements for small pet animals and birds.

The OASIS Feed Category includes liquid vitamin supplements: Oasis Vita-Drops; compressed foods: Oasis 'Falfa-Cubes, Nuggets, and Bits, and 'Falfa-n-Oats Cubes, Nuggets, and Bits; and specially formulated compressed food disks called Biskits.

The high quality of these foods is based on the remarkable extent to which U.S. science supports the development and availability of the finest food ingredients possible for small animals and birds. This work is funded by the many millions of dollars spent annually by U.S. Government and private sources on small animals that are used in medical and scientific research. Improving health standards of farm animals - which to a significant extent has also been based on research with small animals (including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice and tropical birds) - has also been a contributing factor.

These standards are published by the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences, Washington, D.C., as well as by nutrition researchers in the professional scientific journals. OASIS uses these findings to keep up to date in providing the best in feed and supplement formulations for small pet animals and birds.

HOW DO PETS EAT?
Children are fascinated by the way their pets eat. This is due partly to the fact that animals eat differently than people do. They do not use knives, forks, spoons and plates. So the pet's caretaker must provide the pet with food that it can eat in a natural manner in an appropriate dish or manger. Hamsters, rats and mice like to hold their foods and nibble on them, and will often create a pantry of stock-piled food away from the food dish to store their favorite morsels for later consumption. The pantry should be checked for old or spoiled food from time to time, but otherwise left alone. When cleaning the cage, allow the pantry to be left undisturbed if possible, as the pet's security and peace of mind depend on the belief that it has plenty of food and need not concern itself with "hunting" and "hoarding".

Rabbits and guinea pigs eat out of hoppers or dishes and will sometimes nudge one food morsel out of the way to get to one underneath it. Young rabbits and guinea pigs may sit in their food dishes, leaving droppings behind. Be sure to clean the debris out of dishes twice a day should this occur. Hay cubes (i.e. 'Falfa-Cubes and 'Falfa-n-Oat Cubes) may be fed loose on the cage floor providing that the cage is clean and dry. In the case of loose hay, which is used both as a feed and as a bedding, the hay may be used as a snuggly bed that the rabbit or guinea pig can nibble on - giving a new meaning to "breakfast in bed". Old hay that becomes soiled must be removed and replaced with fresh, wholesome feed. Rabbits and guinea pigs need hay in their diets to provide necessary fiber for good intestinal action and health. Most books on these pets specify timothy hay, with other locally grown grass hays being very suitable and well received equivalents. Use of a hay-manger is recommended to keep fresh hay from becoming soiled and scattered.

Hookbill birds such as cockatoos, macaws and other parrots like to hold their food in one foot while perching on the other. These birds accept the 'Falfa Cubes, Bits and Nuggets readily as a "finger food" and will remove these items out of a dish to hold and consume.

Many pets are kept in households that are new to keeping animals. OASIS feeds and vitamin supplements help insure that these pets are getting the proper nutrition as the new pet owners go through the normal "learning experience". Even the smallest pets deserve to have the diet nature intended for them to eat.

Not only is the nutritional content of proteins, carbohydrates, fiber and fat important - it is also very necessary to be certain that the food is of the correct texture and size for the animal to eat in a normal, beneficial manner. OASIS feed products fullfill these needs, and include a nutritional analysis on each package. Foods for gnawing animals are firm to promote dental health. Vitamin supplements mix easily with the daily water ration to become a palatable method of delivering vitamins to even the pickiest pet.
